Brian McDougall, of Udny Community Trust reported to Udny Community Council yesterday that he had got confirmation from HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs ) Tax office that the Udny Community Trust is now finally confirmed as a charity by both controlling bodies.
A cheer went up from Community Councillors as the process had taken 2 years to gain HMRC recognition as a charity for tax purposes alongside the OSCR – the Office of the charities regulator for governance.
Brian McDougall told the meeting the news was only confirmed that day in an email. The Community Trust Board will be meting next week already with another 7 funding applications but this will mean the trust and administration will be clearer and more straight forward. Significant grants have been made but the tax and governance implications have been unclear.
The meeting heard of the success of the UCT grant for the renovation of the Steinway piano at Haddo House, launched with an International class performance recently.
